A Session on Digital Disruptions post covid Era – Industry connect

Mr Kalpit Tiwari, Manager – Business Consulting, Capgemini Technology, Pune. Started his session by quoting – A new survey finds that responses to COVID-19 have speeded the adoption of digital technologies by several years and that many of these changes could be here for the long haul. The COVID-19 crisis has brought about years of change in the way companies in all sectors and regions do business. During the pandemic, consumers have moved dramatically toward online channels, and companies and industries have responded in turn. Perhaps more surprising is the speedup in creating digital or digitally enhanced offerings. Across regions, the results suggest a seven-year increase, on average, in the rate at which companies are developing these products and services. Once again, the leap is even greater—ten years—in developed India. During the crisis, companies have probably refocused their offerings rather than made huge leaps in product development in the span of a few months. Case
studies discussed – Banks (Payment Mode), daily needs(Grocery, vegies), OTT (Entertainment).

E- Waste Drive

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

E-waste is any electrical or electronic equipment that’s been discarded. This includes working and broken items that are thrown in the garbage or donated to a charity resellers. E-waste is particularly dangerous due to toxic chemicals that naturally come out from the metals inside when burnt. If a product is powered electronically and someone thinks they can create a better version, that contributes to e-waste. Today, technological advances have led to numerous electronic devices that though may still be working fine but are considered obsolete – DVD players, floppy, pendrives, mobile phones just to name a few. SVIMS, believing in the sustainable development goals and itself contributing towards a sustainable environment, conducted an E-waste collection drive on 30th May 2022.

SVIMs collaborated with Swachh, Pune for collection of the E-waste. There was approx. 200kgs of E-waste collected by the students and staff. The students approached their societies and friends to ensure a considerable amount of E-waste was collected.

The collection was then donated at Swachh center in Aundh to be processed further in the most sustainable way. Dr. Divya Lakhani, HOD, SVIMS, visited the center along with the collection.

The activity also made the students realized as to the amount of e-waste that is generated in each household but goes unnoticed. They discussed with the faculty as to how, before participating in this activity, they were oblivious to even small things such as battery cells being bought and disposed. Many of them mentioned about shifting to rechargeable batteries as they were more sustainable.

A Session on World Press Day- Journalism in Digital Era

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Entrepreneurial Journalism describes a field of media where journalism is the underlying discipline upon which to create content-based businesses and services that can make money. Rather than the popular view of journalism as a type of objective professional public service to be provided to the citizenry of the world – entrepreneurial journalism offers the chance to think of content creation in business terms.

  • New Generation Of Entrepreneurial Journalists. Predictably, the idea of entrepreneurial journalism found a rapid home among forward thinking Professors of Journalism who have started to incorporate this into their coursework at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
  • Startups Create Excitement And Pioneer New Forms Of Media. The idea gathering efforts to bring some of the most pioneering ideas in entrepreneurial journalism to the attention of many. As more of these startup-style ideas enter into the discussions about the future of journalism, they will unlock new forms of content creation and new business models that the entire industry will eventually look towards.
  • Overlaps With Big Social Media Trends Such As Content Curation. One of the biggest trends that is already shaping the future of marketing is the focus on  content curation as a way to provide value to consumers and share an expertise without necessarily creating content. Aside from creating content as parts of new stand alone organizations, more and more individuals with journalism backgrounds will be sought after by companies to create and organize content on their behalf. “Journalists-In-Residence” will become a part of large companies, opening up yet another entrepreneurial career path for those with journalism training.

“Healing takes time and asking for help is a courageous step.” Mariska Hargitay

Music is always said to be the best healing therapy ever. And when it comes to anxiety and depression, music is what creates the feeling of calmness around you. Taking this into account Sadhu Vaswani Institute of Management Studies for Girls organized an online college visit with Yaarathon on 25th of September 2020 from 11am to 12pm.

Music is a unique human phenomenon. It is the only sensory experience that can activate all the areas of the brain at the same time, simultaneously. That is the reason why music can influence psychological phenomena such as behaviour and emotions,” said Mr. Abhishek Kamble (Yaarathon team member). It can also bring about several physiological changes in the body. Music acts as a stress buster.

The primary aim of the event – Yaarathon is to promote good health and wellbeing amongst students by raising awareness on suicide and depression. SVIMS has been in association with PERIF [ Promote Eduhealth Review India Forum] and their flagship project – Yaarathon] since 2018. To start with Dr. B H Nanwani, Director of SVIMS welcomed the participants and the team members of Yaarathon.
